As the Heavy Equipment Lead Hand you play an integral role in assisting the Service Supervisor in the capacity of managing the day‐to‐day operation of the service department in compliance with the company's established policies and procedures. As well as ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety program. You may also perform major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and complying with the company's established policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for evaluating and mentoring apprentices.

Certification. You have done the hard work and training required to earn certification as a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician and you're ready to apply all that you have learned to make Great West Equipment your customers' first choice. You have a background in in off-road equipment and trucks.
Critical Thinking. You cut to the chase by collecting and examining technical information and make decisions on what is relevant in order to pinpoint issues with mechanical systems. You will have an in-depth understanding of diagnostic tools, how to access product information, and you'll be proficient in providing solutions to problems in a timely manner. As well you will thrive on the challenge of troubleshooting and assisting others in this as well.
Keeping Your Cool. You may occasionally need to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on quality service. This can be a physical job with heavy lifting and carrying. The pace can be fast, the hours can be long during busy cycles and you may also need to work overtime. You will also realize that you need to recharge regularly – we insist that you take your vacation time!
Leadership. Communicate expectations clearly to the techs, lead by example, demonstrate a positive, professional image and take an interest in the welfare of your team. Your leadership style will complement the department supervisor, and you will assist and cover for the supervisor in their absence. Listen actively and perform competence analysis of techs and apprentice technicians. Identify areas for them to improve and provide on the job training to assist in their development.
Safety Minded. First and foremost – you work safely and instill this priority in your team. You will follow all safety programs and procedures – every time. We have adopted best practices when developing our systems and procedures and you'll become a champion for consistently staying in the lines.
Organization. This is a detail-oriented position and you have already developed personal systems for organizing your work, and staying on track to complete internal and customer documentation thoroughly and on time.
