Pro Metal Industries Ltd. is seeking a Full TimeGeneral Manager to work in a world class metal fabrication and machining facility located in Regina, SK. Reporting to the President, the General Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day fabrication operations for the company. If you have a university degree or college diploma in engineering, business administration, commerce, or other relevant discipline with 10 years of work experience in a managerial capacity in a custom manufacturing environment, with experience and knowledge with quoting and estimating in the metal fabrication industry, then this job is for you! Responsibilities:
Oversees and is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations
Drive lean manufacturing concepts throughout the manufacturing process
Responsible for all departments including fabrication operations, accounting, and purchasing, sales, and quality control
Direct and mentor the sales team to achieve sales target
Travel required to attend business development functions such as conferences, networking opportunities and other travel as required.
Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas requiring improvement
Identify, analyze, and implement cost reduction strategies that contribute to the production facility’s efficient and profitable operation
Understand, implement, and always enforce the company’s safety and environmental programs
Oversee activities directly related to the fabrication of our clients’ products
Ensure the Quality Management System is followed, and our clients’ products are manufactured to print and to the quality specifications required.
Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes, and the effect of competitors’ operations on sales
Represent the company, or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the company, in negotiations or at other official functions
Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential
Will ensure the security of the facility, the protection of sensitive data and drawings, follow and enforce cyber security policies and maintain up to date security assessments of all employees
Keep personal job knowledge up to date by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations
Enhance the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner
Prepares and presents reports to the Executive on major initiatives, business performance and recommendations.
Proactively contributes to creating a good team atmosphere
Makes useful links to arrive at insightful plans and solutions
Qualifications:
A university degree or college diploma in engineering, business administration, commerce, or other relevant discipline.
Minimum (10) years of work experience in a managerial capacity in a custom manufacturing environment.
Excellent understanding of sales, finance, and management
Proven record of performance and meeting goals
Experience and knowledge with quoting and estimating in the metal fabrication industry
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills
Knowledge of principles of production management
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members
Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with leadership, business, stakeholders and members of the community and public
Judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the appropriate option
Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve performance to achieve organizational goals and objectives
Efficient knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, email software, and use of the internet
Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
Ability to motivate, inspire, and provide feedback to employees, as well as accepting and acting on feedback from employees
Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively to set action plans to achieve business targets
Must hold Canadian Citizenship and have a clean criminal record. Must be able to pass a security clearance.
