Edison Properties is seeking a full-time General Labourer to perform manual labor tasks and support operations in worksites of our apartment complexes and facilities. This role will involve working in a team and in collaboration with other trades and staff. Customer service, proactive communication, taking initiative, and teamwork will be necessary for success in this role, in addition to technical knowledge.
Perform Work in accordance with legislated and company specific safety regulations

• Safely operates and maintains power tools.
• Wears safety equipment while working (steel toed shoes, hard hat, safety vest).
• Inspects facility and tests equipment as required.
• Reports any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator.
• Ensure the safety of tenants and coworkers at all times.
• In occupied suites, protects tenant belongings as per Company guidelines.

Daily Tasks and Completion of Work Orders related to:

• Garbage/recycling/scrap and miscellaneous items removal:
  • Garbage and recycling bin removal and maintenance including tenant garbage.
  • Deliver scrap metal to respective recycling depot.
  • Deliver materials to revitalization organizations such as Habitat for Humanity.
  • Perform cleaning and disinfection duties in garbage, recycling, dump room and compactor areas.
• Parking area cleaning:
  • Cleans parkade and parking lots including pay stations, entry and exit equipment, signage, parkade walls, entrance and exit lanes, and floors based on schedule and as required.
  • Cleans parkade and parking lots using parkade sweeper, back behind sweeper, push brooms, power washer and other tools/methods as required.
  • Assist with parkade cleaning at other apartment buildings as required.

As needed:

• Support with moving and installation of company furniture and equipment.
• Receive deliveries in a safe and organized manner.
• Assist with maintaining company property including outside areas.
• Cleaning, organization and maintenance of maintenance shops.
• Moving and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Supporting the moving of equipment in the Assiniboine Athletic Club (AAC)..
• Snow removal.
• Must be available to work alternative weekends.

Customer Service

• Interactions with those involved in servicing tenants (our customers) is respectful, clear and positive. This includes managers, Property Managers, Residential Managers and Caretakers and third party contractors.

Job Requirements

• Operator experience (min. 1 year of experience preferred).
• Education: High diploma is considered an asset.
• Clear Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector).
• Valid Driver’s License is required (Experience driving a truck and trailer is preferred).
• Ability to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb a ladder and crawl.
• Ability to stand or walk for long hours of the day.
• Ability to work outside year-round in all weather conditions.
• Additional physical requirements will include frequent lifting and/or moving up to 11 kilograms and occasional lifting and/or moving up 50 kilograms.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Commitment to adhering to health and safety rules.
