Position Overview
ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a General Manager (GM), to be based out of our Burnaby, B.C. location. The successful candidate is an experienced people leader with a proven track record of excellent customer service. The GM will be responsible for all business operations of the metals recycling facility, provide leadership to all yard staff and build lasting, growth-oriented customer relationships in the region.
Responsibilities

Directs supervisors and staff to operate the facility.
Works with Regional Manager and VP, Operations to set annual budget for the yard, taking into account: equipment condition; environmental necessities; operational
needs; business growth.
Proactively identify and pursue new business prospects for ABC and develop existing relationships to achieve growth in volume and market share.
Oversees environmental, health & safety programs and processes to create a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.
Assists in the development of facility standards operating procedures.
Manages all facility human resources processes including training and performance management.
Measures and reports service and operational data and partners with corporate subject matter experts to enhance key performance measures
Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities.
Partners with corporate business development team and with other GMs at other AB (or partner) locations to expand the company’s customer base and service offerings.

Qualifications

5+ years previous experience of all aspects of operations/distribution management of a satellite business location, including people management.
3+ years’ experience running a profit center-oriented business model.
Adept at sales and business development and proven ability to win new customers and accounts.
Experienced in implementing continuous improvement and quality assessment programs.
Comfortable with using MS Office suite and capable of working with computer software programs.
Ability to develop and build relationships both internally and externally to the organization
Experience in the scrap metal processing industry is an asset.
Degree or diploma in a related post-secondary program is an asset.
Excellent collaborator and problem solver.
Proven entrepreneurial or business growth acumen
