Salary range for the position is $74,618 to $107,264. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
How will you create an impact:
The Coordinator, Medical Staff Contracts (Coordinator) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, renewing, and reporting on assigned medical staff contracts. In particular, the Coordinator, Medical Staff Contracts will be responsible for contracts focusing on primary care and community-based services, primary care initiatives, as well as medical leadership contracts. A key responsibility of this position is drafting contracts which reflect the clinical and clinical administrative services to be provided, preparing contract amendments, and contract renewals, as well as the monitoring of contract deliverables. The Coordinator independently leads contract implementation and contract performance improvement through analysis, monitoring and reporting on contract implementation and contract oversight systems performance.
The Coordinator utilizes effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills to carry out the accountabilities, many of which require complex critical thinking and external partner engagement. Anticipated outcomes of the work will require attention to detail, problem solving and an understanding of health care services and medical staff compensation models to facilitate effective contract management processes. The Coordinator works both independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with Medical Staff Contracts and Physician Compensation team members, medical and operational leaders, Physicians, contracted Nurse Practitioners, Midwives, and other partners to ensure consistent, timely, and appropriate contract and compensation management, change management and engagement practices and processes are utilized.

What will you work on:
- Drafts, amends, renews, implements and monitors assigned contracts within all applicable IH and Provincial policies and frameworks. This includes, but is not limited to, primary care contracts for Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Midwives. Ensures due diligence is applied to the development of new contracts by identifying risk issues (financial appropriateness of services, provincial compliance, etc.).
- Ensures medical staff contracts implemented align with and are monitored according to provincial agreements (e.g., the Physician Master Agreement, Midwifery Main Agreement) and their appendices (e.g., Alternate Payment Subsidiary Agreement), as well as HEABC policies and procedures, as applicable. Provides contract performance and service model expertise to the Director and Manager in negotiations with Medical Staff and their representatives, ensuring that contracts meet operational and service delivery needs while adhering to organizational and provincial policies as well as compliance with legal requirements.
- Liaises with the Practitioners considering working under the assigned contracts to provide expert advice and education on contract interpretation and support regarding contract implementation and compliance requirements such as patient attachment and quality initiatives.
- Ensures engagement of all relevant partners in the contract processes, including medical and operational leadership, contracted medical staff, and external partners such as Ministry of Health (Mo H), Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) and Divisions of Family Practice (Do FP). This will require working collaboratively, facilitating and/or participating in meetings with various groups such as medical staff, operational leadership, HEABC and/or the Ministry of Health to ensure all partner needs are met.
- Serves as a point of contact for communication between medical staff, medical and operational leaders, and other partners regarding contract related matters. Works closely with key external partners at the Ministry of Health, HEABC and other organizations such as the Divisions of Family Practice, aimed at improving communication, linkages, and knowledge transfer to support the clinical programs.
- In collaboration with the Medical Staff Analytics team and other partners, monitors quality and key performance indicators for medical staff service contracts to ensure contract service requirements are met and compliance to contract terms and organizational policies.
- Leads activities related to performance reporting of contracted primary care providers such as monitoring, reporting and evaluation mechanisms such as patient attachment system reporting and metrics pertaining to primary care quality improvement incentives.
- Identifies contract performance variances and provides recommendation on possible remedial options to the Manager, Medical Staff Contracts. Supports the Manager and program areas to initiate corrective action, as appropriate, when service provider performance deviates from expectations or where service delivery decisions may cause service provider performance to deviate from expectations.
- Develops, reviews, amends, and renews medical leadership and sessional contract role descriptions and service deliverables, as assigned. Collaborates with program managers and Medical Staff to establish annual contract utilization, activity, and budgets.
- Provides the Medical Staff Contracts Manager with information to support contract renewal and new contract negotiations for assigned contracts.
- Supports ad hoc projects to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes within the Medical Affairs portfolio. Ensures improvement initiatives are completed in a timely manner and result in quantifiable improvements.
- Makes recommendations and implements administrative system improvements to enhance efficient contract oversight implementation and lifecycle management of assigned contracts.
- Ensures that all contracts, associated documents, and correspondence relating to a contract are entered and maintained in a Contract Database.
- Maintains a positive and productive work environment respecting the value of a team approach to the provision of health services.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
