Do you have a knack for communication and public relations? We are looking for a dynamic Community Engagement Advisor to join our dedicated Public Works team and provide essential information to the residents of Yellowknife. As the Community Engagement Advisor, you will be the bridge between the Public Works department and the community driving impactful communication and fostering strong community relationships.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Impact and Regulatory Affairs, the incumbent is responsible for interfacing with the public through various means of communication and engagement with a focus on public works operational tasks and capital project consideration. Through regular direction from the Director and Managers, the incumbent assists with the implementation of community outreach, communication policies, strategies, and campaigns to ensure the communication objectives of the department are met.

The position requires a University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years related experience in community engagement within a government or corporate role is also required. The incumbent must have strong public speaking skills with the ability to relate effectively and to connect with government, community members, and special interest groups. The incumbent must demonstrate advanced skills in MS Office Suite along with the ability to write creative and clear messaging in order to support the City's business objective.

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive annual salary range of $85,780.84 - $103,445.91 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
