Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Care & Maintenance Director to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee a northern active and abandoned mine remediation operations including maintenance of water treatment plants conveying water through all seasons, and managing maintenance and inventory operations.
This position will work on a rotational fly-in, fly-out basis for candidates not local to Faro, YT.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Responsible for all Care and Maintenance requirements and activities as required to facilitate the delivery of the Faro Mine Remediation Project (FMRP)
- Responsible to comply with EH&S at the Mine Site as per the Mine Health & Safety Act and Yukon Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Ensures environmental awareness and compliance with federal and territorial regulations and guidelines
- Oversees Care and Maintenance staff
- Maintains Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) systems, inspections, and audits
- Supports the Project Socio-Economic Strategy
- Reviews and analyze SOPs
- Work constructively to ensure a collaborative and cooperative team approach with knowledgeable and timely input and contribution. Supports the objectives and responsibilities of all other management and leadership staff;
- Manages site staff to implement and carry out work that helps the project and organization achieve its desired outcomes by providing Basic supervision; Technical direction; Motivation; Career progression; Performance feedback
- Determining, planning for and prioritizing the Work
- Ensuring that the necessary resources are identified, made available and brought to bear in a timely manner
- Managing within the work within budget so as to ensure maximum value for expenditures
- Monitoring team performance
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- At least 10 years’ cumulative demonstrated work experience related to the execution, planning, and scheduling of a site or facility wide maintenance program in an industrial or mining setting, demonstrating either 10 years in a senior role or progressively more senior roles across the duration of the duration of the resource’s experience;
- At least 5 years in the last 10 years prior to the closing date of the solicitation demonstrating the resource’s experience as a team lead / as a supervisor; and
- At least three (3) projects or three (3) years’ combined experience, in the last 5 years prior to the closing date of the solicitation demonstrating the resource’s experience in water treatment, asset maintenance and inventory management.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring
- 15 years or more of demonstrated work experience related to the execution, planning, and scheduling of site wide maintenance program in an industrial or mining setting
- Valid Journeyperson’s ticket, related technical diploma, or engineering degree;
- Demonstrated experience in managing contaminated water treatment systems;
- Demonstrated experience in managing water pumping and conveyance systems;
- Demonstrated experience in the management of tailings dams and/or facilities; and
- Demonstrated experience in managing work in the context of safety and environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated project management experience involving facility upgrades, replacement of assets
- Demonstrated experience working with regulatory and other government officials
- Has at least three (3) years’ experience working in a northern climate, overseeing a rotational multi-disciplined workforce in a remote worksite setting
