Analyst – Cyber Security II
Reporting to the Team Leader, Cyber Security, you will be responsible for Supporting posture management, building on vulnerability management, and focusing on the continuous monitoring and improvement of security for the organization.
Here is what a typical day looks like
Leading risk assessments such as threat modeling, privacy assessments, penetration/vulnerability assessments and audits of cyber security technology, standards, and solutions
Assessing, coordinating, or escalating response to identified gaps from audits and assessments
Participating in the incident response process
Assisting in audit cycles (internal or external)
Managing the administration and configuration of security applications
Providing security responses after hours on an on-call basis
Providing secondary support for security reporting, access monitoring and email security roles
Providing technical support in the areas of vulnerability assessment, risk assessment, network security, and security implementation
Focusing on the security status of networks, information, and systems based on information security resources
Assessing and identifying vulnerabilities, understanding which vulnerabilities are likely to be exploited, prioritizing patches, and working with IT operations on patch management, etc.
Monitoring security hygiene and posture across the enterprise, understanding the cyber-risk management challenge and utilizing knowledge to assess and mitigate risks
Analysing threat alerts detected by monitoring applications, and executing corrective actions in a primary role
Identifying, assessing and communicating security risks, issues and recommended solutions
Mitigating risks identified during audit or risk meetings
Conducting testing and audit log reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of current security measures
Providing advice and guidance to the business as an Information Security Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Leading and assisting in the creation of procedures to meet security standards and policies
Participating in a security awareness program
Leading and assisting in the evaluation and deployment of IT security systems and Western Financial Group Communities Foundation.information security solutions
Identifying, studying, learning and applying knowledge of new/emerging security technologies, methodologies and products to analyze and recommend on potential value, participating in and supporting continuous improvement efforts
The value you bring
Post secondary diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
5 years' related experience in technology and risk awareness.
Strong analytical and ITIL foundation and one or more from SANS, SCCP, CISSP or similar accreditation
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Well-developed project management skills including exceptional attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and contribute to a team environment.
Hours: 37.5 hours/week (remote and hybrid work)
Location: St. John, New Brunswick
Salary range: $75,000 - $104,000
