ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Global Operations, the Alberta Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities at the Alberta Factory location, in production, inventory control, shipping & receiving, and facility maintenance. This role will work closely with planning and procurement to ensure the production schedule is level loaded within production capacities while setting objectives to meet the demand plan. As part of the inventory control and inventory maintenance function, the Alberta Factory Manager will oversee count initiatives and work with the procurement team to ensure sufficient inventory levels for production are maintained and special requests or purchases are made in advance of them being needed. Together with manufacturing engineering, the Alberta Factory Manager will provide insights and recommendations for process improvements, and manufacturability improvements to reduce build times and maximize throughput. This individual will ensure that factory objectives are achieved by guaranteeing that all necessary resources are available and allocated correctly, and that processes and protocols are in place, properly communicated and followed. This role serves as an intermediary between factory employees and senior management, and provides leadership and guidance to all direct reports.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff in the department
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the facility
  • Provide a work environment that fosters the well-being, motivation and happiness of factory staff
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, training and coaching as necessary
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy and local laws
  • Direct facility activities, through team members, to meet production targets, manage inventory levels, follow equipment maintenance schedules and ensure proper capacity planning
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Oversee the activities of the manufacturing, inventory control and shipping & receiving teams
  • Production and inventory planning: i) Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing at Alberta Factory such that weekly production objectives and throughput goals are met or exceeded; ii) Ensure that production schedules are created, communicated and work orders are completed on time, and within budget; iii) Manage staffing levels in order to plan and assign optimal resources to meet the planned schedule; iv) Ensure all modifications to builds are communicated and implemented in a timely manner; v) Manage inventory levels to ensure production schedules can be met
  • Increase productivity and throughput: i) Together with manufacturing engineering, improve manufacturing processes with the objective of reducing overall costs, by identifying areas for waste reduction, resolving bottlenecks, and enhancing worker efficiencies and production rates; ii) Ensure Work Instructions are developed and designed to increase productivity, assure quality, reinforce safety and mitigate production risks, and ensure the Work Instructions are consistently followed on the manufacturing floor
  • Oversee shipping and receiving to ensure the inbound, outbound, warehousing and transportation strategy is effectively executed for the company globally, including that all sales orders for all departments and customers are shipped and received on time and on schedule
  • Collaborate with other managers, project leads and leadership to set and assess priorities across teams
  • Oversee all building maintenance, including conducting regular inspections of equipment and facilities, and security protocols
  • Allocate materials and resources to achieve factory goals; establish financial and administrative controls; recommend overall personnel planning
  • Review activity reports and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement, and to determine areas requiring improvement
  • Identify, analyze and implement cost reduction strategies that lead to the factory’s efficient and profitable operation
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations; Understand, implement and enforce the company’s health and safety program and PPE inventory
  • Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to portray 4iiii in a positive manner
  • Maintain broad and current knowledge of best practices in the manufacturing industry
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and manage a diverse team, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence
  • +5 years of work experience supervising or leading a team in a manufacturing environment
  • A university degree or diploma in engineering, supply chain, or other relevant discipline
  • In depth technical knowledge, preferably in electronics manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing principles, operations, warehouse and finished goods inventory management
  • Knowledge of proper inventory management and control
  • Logistics experience, including an understanding of importing and exporting finished goods and raw materials (and the rules and regulations surrounding import/export), and coordinating customs clearance
  • Strong understanding of KPIs and metrics in order to measure productivity throughput and goal achievement, to measure bottlenecks and determine what areas require improvement
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is a plus
  • Proven record of successful performance with set goals
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively in order to set action plans to achieve business targets
  • Ability to identify actions needed to improve performance to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Experience implementing and enforcing a company’s health and safety program, including PPE sourcing and management
  • Having a current First Aid certificate is an asset
  • Judgment and decision making skills with the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations and monitor progress of direct reports
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and to provide or accept feedback to or from employees
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution and people management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with multiple departments
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL DETAILS
  • Working on-site at 4iiii location is required
  • Some travel may be required; possess a valid passport
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 30 kg
