Your application should provide information on how you meet the following Essential criteria as listed in the advertisement below, in addition to including your résumé:

✔ High school diploma and/or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience in operating heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, plow trucks, etc.
✔ Experience in the operation of snow removal with heavy equipment such as a loader, a plow truck and/or a hydraulic snow blower.

  • Various allowances as per the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive such as Environment Allowance, Living Cost Differential and/or Fuel and Utilities Differential
  • New employees are entitled to 3 weeks’ vacation leave with pay after 6 months of continuous employment
  • Advantageous pension regime, Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) and Public Service Dental Care Plan (PSDCP)

Please see below the allowance and indemnities for each location in addition to the rate of pay as per the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive (effective date 01.08.23):

ENVIRONMENT ALLOWANCE: Wabush and St. Anthony, NL
  • Employee with dependants: $3.28 hourly ($6,836 per year)
  • Employee without dependants: $1.97 hourly ($4,102 per year)

LIVING COST DIFFERENTIAL: Only Wabush, NL
  • Employee with dependants: $4.06 hourly ($8,471 per year)
  • Employee without dependants: $2.44 hourly ($5,082 per year)

FUEL AND UTILITIES DIFFERENTIAL: Only St. Anthony, NL
  • Employee with dependants: $0.66 hourly ($1,375 per year)
  • Employee without dependants: $0.40 hourly ($825 per year)

Duties
  • During winter months*, removes snow, water, ice and other surface contaminants from taxiways, runways, aprons, public access roads, parking areas, meteorological and telecommunications sites, boundary lights and other airfield, airport surfaces and drainage systems.

  • During summer months, maintains and improves conditions of runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, and other airport access areas, grass and soil covered fields and storm drainage systems.

  • Performs preventive maintenance duties and minor repairs on equipment and structures. Assists other trades with major repairs that do not require specialized training or journeyman proficiency.

  • Limited vacation from October to April.

Intent of the process
We are currently looking to fill one position on a seasonal specified period basis located in St. Anthony, NL. ✔ Willingness and ability to work at heights up to 85 feet and obtain and maintain Aerial Lift, Boom and Fall Arrest training.
✔ Willingness and ability to work in variable weather conditions and difficult environments (outdoors, cold, hot, dusty and noisy).
