The Advisor will report to the Collections Senior Manager. He or she is responsible for minimizing monthly delinquency and the successful delivery of the team’s strategic initiatives.
This role sits within LBC Capital, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.
Responsibilities
- Analyze severely delinquent accounts and work with customers to identify and implement solutions within company policies and escalate as needed
- Liaise with lawyers and all legal counsels: sending mandates, follow ups, reviewing legal fees, tracking judgements, negotiating settlements, and being involved in bankruptcies and reorgs
- Review of incoming claims against LBC Capital and coordinate them with internal teams
- Confirm the validity and perfection of security in the context of equipment financing transaction (at the time of realization and in the context of corporate reorganization or bankruptcies)
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners
- Coordinate with various departments and external partners for problem resolution;
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions to identify and scope out department needs; create requirement documents, define high-level functionality and create use case scenarios;
- Identification and realization of opportunities for process optimization and automation;
- Seek out industry trends and organizational knowledge to understand alternative approaches/solutions; re-engineer processes and look for automation opportunities.
- Replace manual and inefficient processes with automated solutions;
- Create and maintain documents, diagrams and process maps for operational processes using tools such as MS Visio; establish and maintain user and training guides with written content.
- Provide training on best practices and provide subject matter guidance to team members.

- Keep updated on current legislation and the LBCC'S policies and procedures and track market trends

- Perform all tasks of similar or general nature requested by his or her superior or required for the job.
Qualifications
- Understanding of collections legal requirements and best practices;
- Working knowledge of contract law, PPSA Acts, BIA Act, Consumer Protection Acts
- Bilingual (French/English) is an asset;
- Proven track record of meeting collections targets while maintaining customer focus;
- Undergraduate degree is preferred combined with 10+ years of commercial collections experience;
- Ability to effectively multitask and manage competing priorities to meet established deadlines in a fast paced environment;
- Excellent communication and documentation skills;
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate with others in cross-functional settings;
- Innovative thinking yielding creative solutions and alternatives
- Highly inquisitive by nature, with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for details;
- Ability to successfully apply standard financial, accounting and business problem-solving skills to business problems;
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Visio;
- Ability to make decisions within established guidelines;
- Organized, efficient, knowledgeable, accurate and professional;
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively;
- Problem analysis and problem-solving ability.
