Accounting Assistant (full-time, Permanent) The Accounting Assistant is involved in all aspects of the Accounting department and will assist the Accountant and the Director of Finance in analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. The Accounting Assistant works 40 hours a week at our picturesque North Kildonan campus, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Main Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare and distribute invoices to customers, ensuring accurate coding and recording into the accounting system
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all accounts payable transactions
Secure approvals, process and code invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment
Generate cheque run, mail/distribute signed cheques including assembling remittance advices to invoices
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, resolve discrepancies, address outstanding balances and manage cash collection
Manage and update vendors' and customers contact information and profiles
Maintain and update historical records for future reference and auditing purposes
Assist in data preparation for audit and other analysis/reports as requested
Covering for payroll clerk as required
Other clerical duties and administrative tasks as required
Qualifications
Post-secondary accounting courses.
3+ years of experience working in an accounting role – accounts payables, receivables.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and knowledge of GAAP.
Proficient in MS Office Suit
Knowledge of Quick Books Online is an asset.
Must be reliable and organized with the ability to prioritize.
Ability to effectively establish and maintain a positive, professional relationship with co-workers, managers and external agencies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry, Prior Contact, Adult Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Reference checks.
