Job Description
Are you passionate about science and eager to contribute to innovative solutions in the paper coating industry? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you as a Laboratory Technician/Associate!
Join our vibrant team at the Solenis Research Center in Wommelgem, Belgium, and play a key role in the development of sustainable barrier coating technologies.
Solenis offers a complete range of barrier coating formulations to accommodate a variety of paper and paperboard packaging products, including paper cups, fast food wrappers and corrugated boxes.
You'll work independently with minimal supervision, performing a variety of exciting tasks:
- Master the Lab: Set up and operate cutting-edge lab equipment for new product development in paper coating applications.
- Formulation Wizard: Develop and test formulations using water-soluble or latex polymers, constantly learning new analytical techniques and operating advanced instrumentation.
- Data Detective: Generate and analyze experimental data, translating findings into clear and comprehensive reports for principal investigators.
- Safety Champion: Ensure a safe and efficient lab environment, adhering to strict safety protocols and managing lab maintenance.
Beyond the Basics:
- Apply coatings and evaluate various parameters of coated paper and fiber items.
- Prepare samples for lab and semi-pilot scale testing.
- Conduct analyses, register data, and maintain the quality of analytical devices.
- Perform material analyses and stability tests, interpreting results effectively.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in Analytical, Application, and Process Technology departments.
What makes you a great fit?
- A2 or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or similar field (2-5 years of industrial laboratory experience preferred).
- Good communication skills in Dutch and English (both written and oral).
- Strong teamwork spirit and a dedication to achieving goals.
- Meticulous work ethic with a knack for analytical thinking and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- A keen focus on safety with understanding of handling hazardous materials.
- EU/Belgium work authorization.
