Make your mark for patients We are looking for a Head of Bio MSAT (Manufacturing Science & Technology) who is a strong and strategic leader, skilled in regulatory compliance, project management, and stakeholder management, to join our team at UCB, based in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium or Bulle, Switzerland.
About the Role As a key member of the Internal Manufacturing team, the Head of Bio MSAT is responsible for leading the manufacturing strategy execution for biotech and sterile product manufacturing, overseeing process expertise in three areas: Mammalian Cells Drug Substance, Bacterial Drug Substances, and Sterile Filling. This global role requires close collaboration with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure process excellence, compliance, continuous improvement, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Who You Will Work With You will lead a newly formed Bio MSAT team, shaping its structure and guiding its growth. You will collaborate across UCB’s manufacturing networks and work closely with cross-functional teams, including CMC Development, Internal and External Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, regulatory experts, and external partners. Additionally, you will manage stakeholders, ensuring alignment across departments and successful project and program execution.
What You Will Do
Execute manufacturing strategies across Mammalian, Bacterial, and Sterile processes.
Lead and mentor the MSAT team, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Own UCB’s Bio Drug Substances and Sterile manufacturing processes for commercial assets and brands, including scale-up and tech transfer.
Resolve complex technical challenges and drive process improvements.
Operate MSAT Bio labs for process experiments and downscaling.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and industry standards.
Build and shape the new MSAT Bio team.
Oversee project and program management efforts, ensuring smooth execution, timely delivery, and alignment with business objectives.
Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.

Ph.D. in a relevant field (Master’s degree considered with extensive experience).
Expertise in bio-manufacturing processes (Mammalian and Bacterial) and sterile filling.
Strong leadership and team-building experience.
Deep knowledge of c GMP regulations and regulatory guidelines.
Fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
Proven experience in project/program management and stakeholder management.
Ability to solve complex technical issues and innovate process improvements.
Data-driven decision-making skills and a collaborative mindset.
