The CEO plays the crucial role of managing the public profile of the bank and serves as the primary spokesperson and representative for the bank. As a member of the bank's board of directors, the CEO collaborates with the board to define and articulate the bank's vision and is responsible for developing and monitoring strategies for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the bank. At the same time the CEO ensures that the bank's shared functions with other Citigroup entities are functioning to achieve appropriate operating and compliance benchmark.
Key Responsibilities :
Leading the Business
- Collaborates with product and functional partners to design, influence and lead country business strategy - having accountability for the end result at country level
- Communicates a clear vision of the business strategy and engages employees in support of the strategy
- Leads the country scorecard and financial reporting
- Generates new value propositions where appropriate
- Leads acquisitions/investments/divestments as appropriate
- Coaches the leadership team to build high performing teams
- Influences talent, performance and mobility decisions in the best interests of the Country and Citi as a whole
- Actively raises Citi's profile with external stakeholders including clients, regulators, government, community, media and alumni
Murabaha Desk and Product Development :
- Responsible for managing the Murabaha Desk for products offered by CIIB and its affiliates. The products range includes Islamic Commodities Murabaha (Money Market Deposits, Islamic Nostro/Saving Accounts), Islamic Finance (Reverse Murabaha Transactions), Murabaha Intermediation Transactions, Structure Trade Finance Transactions and other treasury products
- Responsible for onboarding new clients for CIIB and for managing all existing Islamic client relationships
- Responsible for providing customer support and maintaining contact with customers and obtaining follow-up business
- Responsible for commercializing Islamic liquidity products to Banks and Institutional Investors and developing new business opportunities
- Responsible for booking Murabaha transactions with Citi Islamic Counterparties and confirming them with the investors and maintaining the related daily records
- Interacting on a regular basis with Internal Legal and the Islamic Control Function in relation to the review and approval of new client agreements
- Maintaining all the existing Agreements with clients and Commodities Brokers
- Responsible for representing CIIB in governance and business meeting forums, as required
- Responsible for performing the MCA testing on behalf of the Citi Islamic business and submitting it through Citi Risk & Control System
- Responsible for reconciling, proofing and attesting Citi Islamic account through the e-Recon System and maintaining all the related records
- Responsible to maintain full compliance to the Sharia rules, regulations and requirements of all Murabaha based products
Knowledge/ skills/ experience :
Clients:
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of Citi's core product range
- Identifies cross-sell / multi-product solutions that optimize client experience and meet Citi's RORC targets
Capital:
- Demonstrates understanding of all relevant financial statements and accounting rules alongside return and profitability measures. Demonstrates focus on capital allocation
- Proactively anticipates issues and opportunities with firm wide impact and escalates as needed
- Understands and can explain the Basel III pricing and return implications to clients and product partners
- Makes sound decisions considering the risk-reward trade off and performance objectives
Competencies:
- Ability to engage with Islamic corporate and FI clients
- Manage Murabaha desk relationships
- Address all the clients' needs
- Negotiate with Citi Islamic Management and all the related parties to fulfil the clients' needs to satisfaction
