Application/Middleware Administrator
Job Purpose
An Application and Middleware Administrator configures and manages Application Tier (IBM WAS, Oracle Web Logic, JBOSS, Tomcat etc.) and middleware systems (IBM App Connect). Installs and configures the Application Tier and Middleware components according to the Bank ABC's business requirements. Develops documentation and trains others. Develop plans associated with upgrades or patches.
Principal Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables of Role
- Provide middleware administration duties in maintaining a reliable, secure, and efficient application environment based on IBM Web Sphere application Server, Oracle Web Logic, JBOSS EAP, Apache TOMCAT and IIS
- Setting up a high available and load balancing features using Tomcat, Apache, Oracle Web Logic and IBM WAS.
- Administration knowledge of IBM App Connect and ETL Data Stage.
- Day to Day support activity for BAU, health checks and performance tuning on the Application TIER and middleware software at Bank ABC. Establishing root cause analysis.
- Develop comprehensive and detailed documentation for all middleware operational procedures to ensure clarity in execution. Should include step-by-step instructions, best practices, and clearly defined protocols for handling various scenarios in the middleware environment.
- Applying quarterly patches of the Application TIER and middleware suites in Test, Production and DR. Maintain in scope software security compliance. Resolve all vulnerabilities reported on Application TIER and Middleware environment.
- Work on projects as assigned, including sizing, planning and implementation activities. Take responsibilities from Application TIER and Middleware perspective for going live of the projects.
Job Requirements
Knowledge
- Medium to advance knowledge and administration skills with middleware or application platform technologies such as web and application servers in Unix & Windows environment.
- Good understanding of the security configurations on the Application TIER and Middleware environments and SSL certificates implementation, industries best practices to secure the environment.
- Good understanding of web server load balancing concepts and experience with high available distributed environment.
- Hands on experience on RHEL and Solaris along with Windows. Able to use UNIX commands and tools to troubleshoot issues, parse and evaluate log files, etc.
- Ability to write and revise bash/ksh scripts, knowledge of perl and java scripting
Education / Certification
- BA/BS in Information Systems or a related technical field
- Industry certifications like JBOSS application administration, IBM Certified system administrator - Web Sphere Application server Network deployment, IBM Certified system administrator - MQ, Oracle Web Logic Servers.
Experience
- Minimum 3+ years' Experience with Web Logic, Web Sphere, JBOSS and IBM App Connect is mandatory and knowledge of Apache Web Server, IIS, Tomcat, is added advantage.
- Experience of working in Banking / Financial services Domain or other fast paced 24/7 highly regulated organizations.
