A bit about the role: The role of a Water & Wastewater Operator Trainee is an outdoor role allowing the individual to experience a variety of plumbing and construction related tasks in the fields of both Water and Wastewater service provision. A Wastewater Operator must be able to work cohesively in a team and be able to listen to and follow instructions competently. Outdoor hands-on activities form a majority the tasks in this role, so a passion for outdoor construction is desirable. The Trainee will provide support to both Construction and Maintenance staff in the Water and Wastewater Team. In a trainee, we look for:
A willingness to work in an outdoor environment
A level of fitness to undertake manual activities
Basic Maths and English
Ability to work with a team
What you can learn:
Constructing water and wastewater mains
Constructing pumping stations
Welding water services
Reading water meters
Maintenance of manholes, valves and many other system components
A traineeship in Wastewater Operations is full time employment for two (2) years and the proposed study will be a Certificate III in Water Industry – Water and Wastewater Operations.
