Bethanie is a leading not for profit aged care provider based in Western Australia. We are currently seeking a qualified Therapy Assistant to facilitate therapy and lifestyle programs for our residents at Bethanie Waters Aged Care Facility located in Port Kennedy. Bethanie Waters 160 bed modern aged care facility offering a secure area for local residents with dementia or similar and associated conditions. We are looking for someone with a passion for working with people of all abilities and backgrounds. Our Therapy Assistants have an enthusiastic and creative approach to their work and are able to support and cultivate our residents’ strengths and interests. An important component of this role is the ability to work autonomously and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions independently. You will be able to work under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, while also being confident in using your initiative and creative thinking to ensure sessions run smoothly. This position is being offered on a permanent, full time basis working 38 hours per week. The shifts for this position will be for a dementia specific wing, Monday to Friday, 10am – 6pm. About You
Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent)
Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role, ideally in aged care or other health care environment
Experience working with residents with dementia would be an advantage
Ability to communicate clearly in both a verbal and written capacity with care recipients, families and team members
Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethanie Group
Current NDIS Clearance or willingness to receive one
Willingness to receive vaccinations – 3x covid vaccinations and flu vaccination
The Role
Implement therapy and lifestyle programs for individual residents and groups
Adapt activities to resident’s level of function under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist
Address a variety physical and psychological needs and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement for residents
Maintain accurate documentation, both paper and computer based
