The Role
The Retail and Online Sales section is responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the Memorial: the Memorial Shop onsite and online, the e Business unit (Memorial Collection sales), café’s and events catering, publications and brand licensing through commercial suppliers.
The Memorial is undergoing a period of significant change delivering a complex, multi-year major construction and gallery development project. As part of the development project, the Memorial’s retail operation will be reopening in an expansive retail space of over 150 square metres in the Memorial’s new southern entrance in January 2025.
The Retail Team Leader is responsible for a range of functions which include: supervision of the day to day operations of the AWM Shop floor, cash register opening and closing procedures, reconciliation and cash handling supervision, allocation of daily tasks to Retail Team Members, and assist the Inventory Team Leader with inventory replenishment and transfers between warehouses.
The role suits an experienced retailer familiar with delivering high level customer service in a busy retail and visitor attraction environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Under direction from the Retail Manager, take responsibility for the delivery of exemplary customer service to Memorial guests and visitors by the retail team.
- Actively embed the Memorial’s Values and Behaviours within the retail team.
- Prepare the AWM Shop for opening and closing by completing POS procedures, reconciling cash registers and managing cash under AWM policies and procedures.
- Develop a strong understanding of the AWM Shop product range to ensure that Team Members can provide appropriate and informed advice to Memorial guests and visitors.
- Ensure the customer service of Memorial visitors is exemplary, efficient and respectful.
- Under Direction from the Retail Manager, implement Memorial policies and procedures and maintain appropriate records.
- Actively promote WHS procedures and policies to ensure a safe work environment for visitors and employees.
- Supervision and training of Retail Team Members.
- Use Inventory Management software (Cin7 and Shopify Plus) to accurately complete inventory replenishment and completion of transfers between warehouse locations.
- General retail duties including the presentation of the Shop by employing visual merchandising standards and good housekeeping.
- Undertake Fire Warden training and complete Fire Warden responsibilities when required.
- Promotion of the AWM Shop marketing channels and campaigns, e.g. newsletter subscriptions and online engagement.
- Participate in cyclical and planned stocktakes.
- Manual handling and movement of a wide range of objects as required, including but not limited to shop merchandise, boxes and packages.
- Undertake special duties or projects as directed by the Retail Manager or the Head of Retail and Online Sales.
Additional Requirements:
- Rostered weekend work is a requirement of this position. Out of hours work will occur occasionally when required and with due notice.
- Long periods of standing and serving and manual handling in the retail store are a requirement of the position.
