As an experienced safety professional with deep operational experience, this role will act as the SME in material risk management and collaborate with all areas of the business to identify opportunities to reduce risk, enhance existing risk management practices and lift the knowledge and capability of safety and operational team members. The specialist provides safety advice and support, engaging both frontline staff and management in the process and can within a team contribute to, develop and implement focused solutions to mitigate risk and enhance safe systems of work.
What you’ll do
This role will be instrumental in contributing to the Company material risk management framework, identifying, developing and implementing strategies to achieve our key strategic priorities. The Safety Risk Specialist will be part of a team striving to achieve pragmatic material risk safety outcomes across the broader Woolworths business. Applying a risk management mindset to all aspects of work, you will be required to:
Perform risk assessments and data analysis for key areas of material risk, analyse such assessments and present risk mitigation recommendations based on sound risk management principles
Facilitate and lead learning and education sessions to build organisational capability to educate on specific and relevant areas of risk
Identify and develop group wide standards, systems and processes required to mitigate material risks
Act as the subject matter expert, and provide advice and support in identified areas of material risk
Collaborate, engage and consult at all levels of the organisation to achieve seamless delivery of strategic objectives
Define, develop and maintain strategies and programs that support compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
What you’ll bring
The ideal candidate for this role will have the ability to work at both a strategic and operational level. Through strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration, the specialist will identify emerging risks and develop mitigation strategies that align with business goals and priorities, that can be seamlessly integrated into the business.
Tertiary qualifications in safety or equivalent and/or relevant industry experience.
4+yrs in a similar role that requires leadership and influencing at the senior level across a large complex organisation (not necessarily people leadership)
Strong technical and operational safety experience Experience in developing and executing projects within a fast pace environment
Knowledge of State and Territory legislative requirements, standards and codes of practice
Ability to understand and interpret results from data, draw conclusions and provide recommendations to stakeholders
Strong influencing, engagement and communication skills; relationship building and management skills
