About the Opportunity
Based in Adelaide, reporting to the Associate Director, Infrastructure you will provide strategic leadership and performance reporting for the Technical Services function which comprises of our Technical Design and Engineering teams. You will be responsible for managing and leading all aspects of technical engineering, design, architecture, landscape architecture, surveying, traffic management and development engineering services.
You will a have leadership style which is naturally empowering, supportive, collaborative, encouraging and drives culture, which will enable you to meet the requirements of the capital and renewal works program to Councils budget and delivery timelines as well as all aspects of technical design standards and quality requirements.
Some of the exciting projects we have underway are:
- Main Street Revitalisation Projects: Hindley St, Gouger St, O’Connell St, Hutt St & Melbourne Street
- Greening City Streets
- City Bikeways Projects

The Infrastructure Program provides effective whole of life planning and management of our diverse community infrastructure assets and seeks partnerships with government bodies to deliver on Council's strategic plans, stimulating the local economy and supporting existing community needs and future growth.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Significant experience in leading cultural change, and providing motivational leadership within a multi-disciplinary technical environment, which continually enhances and builds the team’s capability and performance.
- An appropriate mix of specialist knowledge and experience across Technical Design, including Landscape Architecture and Engineering to ensure that the programs and services for which the team is responsible are planned, designed, implemented to required quality standards, and in accordance with time and cost expectations.
- Proven ability to build positive relationships and consult, negotiate and communicate with all levels of management and employees, agencies and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders through the provision of timely, reliable and expert advice on matters within area of responsibility.
