About the role
The Manager, Physical Preparation will directly support the Manager, Sport Science with the strategic direction and daily operations of the Physical Preparation Unit, aligned with the NSWIS Sport Science Department. The Manager, Physical Preparation will be required to perform direct line management responsibilities and will be responsible for the recruitment, deployment, professional development and performance management of Strength & Conditioning and Physiology staff.
The role will lead World Class Physical preparation that is best practice, evidence based and contemporary. The Manager, Physical Preparation will establish reporting structures to be able to monitor and establish Physical Performance practitioners’ performance impact with NSWIS partnered sports and work closely with the Manager, Sport Science to continually improve performance impact by practitioners.
This is a full time position, attracting a salary range of $149,616 - $162,086 plus superannuation. The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2028 in line with the Olympic cycle.
This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you
You will have:
- Over 2 years’ experience in managing and developing high performance sport practitioners.
- Breadth of knowledge across the delivery of both Strength and Conditioning and physiology support to elite athletes, with expertise in at least one discipline.
- Proven track record as an exceptional communicator and collaborator.
- Demonstrate ability to manage projects and strategic tasks to completion within strict deadlines.
- Minimum 8 years collective work experience delivering World class Strength and Conditioning and Sport Science support in an Olympic, Institute or professional sports delivery environment
- Over 2 years’ of direct line management responsibility supervising Strength and Conditioning and Physiology support staff.
- Proven experience in allocating and managing financial resources to more effectively provide physical performance support to elite athletes.
- Provide experience with strategic planning and systems management
Essential Requirements
- Relevant post graduate qualifications in Exercise science or equivalent
- Post Graduate degree in Exercise science
- ASCA Level 3 or ASCA Master Coach Accreditation
- ESSA Level 2
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Current First Aid and Resuscitation CPR certificate
- Integrity Australia (SIA) Anti-doping fundamentals and Annual Update
- Valid Driver’s Licence
