Remuneration: Casual hourly rate commencing at $39.34 (plus casual loading) plus superannuation Closing Date: Sunday 29th September 2024 at 11.00pm AEST Expressions of interest are invited for the position of Casual Library Assistant. This role is based across the Gympie Regional Libraries network, and hours will be allocated on an as needs basis. Position Summary: Gympie Regional Council Libraries build connected communities by providing people with opportunities to discover, create, share ideas and preserve information and knowledge for the future. Our libraries are places for people of all ages, with customers having free access to services which include: accessing library collections that are physical, digital and mobile, utilising computers, wifi and learning new skills by taking part in a range of innovative library programs and activities. The library service is a highly visited community facility, with a network consisting of six branch libraries located at Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach, Kilkivan, Goomeri and Imbil. We are creating a talent pool of enthusiastic and customer service-focused individuals (that we can engage when vacancies arise) to provide front-line library services and deliver programs and activities, including children’s storytime, coding and robotics workshops, digital technology sessions and community workshops. Working at any of our libraries including, Gympie, Kilkivan, Goomeri, Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach or Imbil on a casual rostered and on-call basis the successful applicant may be required to work shifts from Monday to Saturday. This position is responsible for providing and promoting library services to the community delivering high quality, customer focused service and library programming and events that are responsive to community needs. Essential Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent Customer Service and communication skills with an ability to deal with difficult customers and present a positive Council image.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use a variety of computer hardware and software with an ability to instruct customers with various IT requirements.
Ability to develop working relationships with staff and work together in a team environment.
Ability to deliver various library programs to large groups of people at our libraries and outreach locations.
Ability to work autonomously.
The ability to work at other branch libraries as required to meet business needs.
The availability to work flexible hours (including Thursday night and Saturday morning).
Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence or above that is current and maintained.
Working with children check – Blue Card or ability to obtain a Blue Card.
Essential Requirements:
Provide outstanding customer service at our libraries.
Undertake library duties such as issues, returns, shelving and collection maintenance.
Maintain a strong knowledge of library services, including digital and online resources and library programs.
Assist with the retail presentation of our library spaces to best showcase our products and services to the community.
Promote and deliver a range of library programs to fulfil the community’s needs including story time, school holiday activities, lifelong learning, technology sessions and community workshops.
Actively participate in reviews of branch library processes and procedures to ensure a continuous improvement focus on customer service.
