About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist a participant with high-level autism in their daily activities both at home and in the community. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide essential care and support while also enjoying a relaxed and balanced working environment. Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Provide assistance with showering, toileting, dressing, and maintaining personal hygiene.
Household Assistance: Support with cooking, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and organised home environment, including general housekeeping duties.
Community Access: Assist the participant in accessing the community, engaging in social activities, and attending appointments.
Behavioral Support: Offer support in managing behaviors, using established behavior management techniques to ensure a calm and supportive environment.
Downtime & Companionship: When not engaged in direct care, spend time building a rapport with the participant, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported during downtime in the home.
About You:
A patient and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
Ability to manage challenging behaviors with a calm and respectful approach.
Flexible and adaptable to the participant’s needs, while maintaining a professional and supportive attitude.
Comfortable with personal care tasks and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Willingness to follow individualised support plans, including behavior management strategies.
Requirements:
Previous experience supporting individuals with autism or high-level care needs (preferred).
Understanding of behavior support practices and the ability to implement strategies as required.
Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (desirable).
