About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist a participant with high-level autism in their daily activities both at home and in the community. Job Type: Casual
Pay: $30.60 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
Schedule:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist a participant with high-level autism in their daily activities both at home and in the community. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide essential care and support while also enjoying a relaxed and balanced working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Provide assistance with showering, toileting, dressing, and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Household Assistance: Support with cooking, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and organised home environment, including general housekeeping duties.
- Community Access: Assist the participant in accessing the community, engaging in social activities, and attending appointments.
- Behavioral Support: Offer support in managing behaviors, using established behavior management techniques to ensure a calm and supportive environment.
- Downtime & Companionship: When not engaged in direct care, spend time building a rapport with the participant, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported during downtime in the home.
- A patient and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors with a calm and respectful approach.
- Flexible and adaptable to the participant’s needs, while maintaining a professional and supportive attitude.
- Comfortable with personal care tasks and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Willingness to follow individualised support plans, including behavior management strategies.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with autism or high-level care needs (preferred).
- Understanding of behavior support practices and the ability to implement strategies as required.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (desirable).
