Job Description National Disability and Community Services (NDCS) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide support and assistance to clients with disabilities, as well as those facing age-related challenges and mental health issues, within a community setting.
Responsibilities
Provide emotional support and counselling to clients with mental health issues.
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
Monitor and document clients' progress, reporting significant changes to healthcare professionals.
Coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive client care.
Advocate for clients' rights and ensure access to necessary resources.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Certificate III in Individual Support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services, or Disability Work (or higher).
First Aid and CPR Certificate
Manual Handling Certificate
Working With Children Check
NDIS Worker Check
Completion of NDIS modules (Orientation, New Worker Induction, Supporting Effective Communications, Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals).
Valid driver's license with vehicle registration and insurance
Infection Control Certificate
Medication Certificates
Diabetes Certificate.
Competencies and Experience
Minimum of 1 to 3 months in a similar role, preferably supporting individuals with disabilities.
Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize caseload.
Commitment to professional development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
Previous support work experience in Disability is desirable.
Reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
Competent in using smartphones and relevant apps.
Availability for mandatory training and flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
