The Infrastructure and Operations Division maintains national critical infrastructure for Services Australia and across government. We deliver a robust, secure, and resilient ICT environment so Australian citizens can access government services 24x7.
The Application Infrastructure branch is responsible for the provisioning and support of underlying applications and databases that support the agency’s critical services. This includes performing ongoing maintenance to ensure vendor support and stability, providing incident investigation and performance analysis using advanced monitoring solutions.
Database Administrators deliver a mix of priority technology projects and business-as-usual activities. Your expertise will enable you to engage in scoping, sourcing, and optimising database environments for analysis. You will apply innovative analysis techniques and model results and scenarios, while maintaining the integrity of the system.
You’ll need to be proficient with system database, data elements, application software and other tools to develop enterprise data solutions. You will use your extensive experience and expertise across a number of contemporary ICT systems, servers, coding languages and databases.
You’ll foster collaboration and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You’ll need to exercise independence and effective decision-making based on high-level judgement and subject matter expertise, with consideration of wider implications. You’ll excel in fast-paced working environments and possess the ability to balance several key priorities simultaneously, while ensuring the highest levels of quality in the work being delivered by the team.
We are seeking Mainframe Database Administrators and Midrange Database Administrators with the specialised skills associated with the respective roles.
Mainframe Database Administrators require experience and knowledge across a breadth of ICT technologies and methodologies including:
- IBM Db2 tools (recovery expert, clone tool etc).
- Monitoring and diagnostics using Omegamon and query monitor.
- Rolling out maintenance for Db2 across mainframe systems.
- z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL etc).
- z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E etc).
Midrange Database Administrators require experience and knowledge across a breadth of ICT technologies and methodologies including:
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting issues and maintenance with Oracle and Postgre SQL databases.
- Using scripting languages such as Oracle SQL, Python, Perl and Shell.
- Open Shift/Open Stack.
- Mongo DB and Db2.
- One or more of the following monitoring tools, Dynatrace, Elastic (Kibana), IBM Data Server Manager, Mongo DB Ops Manager and pg Admin.
Work Environment
Duties will be performed in an office environment based in Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane. Working from home can be negotiated upon successful employment.
