Position Description:
We are looking for strong Project, Policy, Program and Contract Leaders who will drive core policy and delivery activities within the Families and Communities Stream. These officers will be required to undertake very complex and sensitive work and operate under broad direction. They exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role. They will be required to provide direction to others regarding the purpose and importance of their work, while illustrating the relationship between operational tasks, organisational goals, and government strategies.
They will understand the organisation's objectives and align operational priorities, considering the implications of issues and impact to both the work of their area and more broadly including work at the Branch, Group and Stream levels. They will build and sustain collaborative relationships with a network of stakeholders, both internally and externally, and are expected to proactively offer assistance to build mutually beneficial relationships. They will be organised with systems and practices to manage work programs proactively and systematically so direct reports are clear on their contribution to the work program.
They recognise the different working styles and capabilities of individuals, identify learning opportunities for them and empower them by delegating tasks. Successful candidates will have strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural capability and be committed to supporting positive outcomes for families and children, particularly people who have experienced family, domestic or sexual violence. They will work as part of a broader team to drive policy development and provide expert advice, program development, delivery and monitoring, strategic procurement, contract management, or perform data analytics.
Eligibility / Additional Requirements:
To be eligible for employment with Department of Social Services (the department), you must be an Australian citizen. An applicant's suitability for employment with the Department will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This will include an identity and criminal history background check.
Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance:
The suitable applicant must also obtain and maintain a security clearance conducted by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
Applicants also must be able to establish their background as checkable to be considered eligible for a security clearance. Any gaps or periods of time spent overseas for 12 or more months (cumulative) that cannot be verified by an Australian referee is deemed uncheckable, rendering the applicant ineligible for a security clearance. Background history must cover 5 / 10 years (Baseline / Negative Vet 1 or Negative Vet 2) of employment, education, residential, criminal history and anything else specified by the AGSVA. The suitable applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information to fulfil this process.
