About the role
Animal Care Support plays a key role in ensuring the needs of animals in RSPCA Qld care are meet and providing administrative support to the Rockhampton team. Reporting to the Animal Care Coordinator; you will support the Rockhampton team in facilitating RSPCA Qld’s capacity to care within the region, while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake all animal husbandry duties including the implementation of behavioural initiatives and assessments as required.
- Transport animals between RSPCA locations and approved facilities as required.
- Undertake general administrative duties to support the various team initiatives within the region as required. A high standard is required around data entry and maintaining accurate records as this may be used as evidence during the course of welfare investigations.
- Work across other sites as required, including assisting inspectors and the animal ambulance in the field.
- Undertake activities to support the effective running of the foster care program and offsite adoption programs within the region as required.
Who are we looking for?
- Open driver’s license.
- Proven domestic animal handling experience including administering medication.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to prioritise tasks.
- Vet Nursing degree would be highly regarded but not essential.
- Genuine interest in animal welfare and the objectives of RSPCA Qld.
- Ability to perform physical duties including manual handling, and an ability to handle a minimum weight of 10 kilos.
Part-time, permanent position, working 16 hours per week, including regular weekend shifts.
