The Role
As a Senior IT System Engineer at Medallia, you will collaborate with internal or external vendor teams that will create seamless infrastructure experiences across our IT cloud presence, Data Centers, Systems, and Networks to provide our end user community a secure, highly performant, and consistent user experience across the globe. We are consolidating our network footprint into the Palo Alto Networks ecosystem and we are looking for people to join this journey.
Responsibilities:
- Be a key contributor in developing the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the IT team while being a thought leader in architecting, designing, building, and maintaining complex systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, information security and the rest of the company to effectively align against goals, roadmap, and commitments. Translate business requirements, design and drive the execution plan for successfully delivering high quality output on time for various business driven initiatives. You will be responsible for helping the team sequence, prioritize, and contribute to plan the portfolio of IT initiatives.
- Be hands-on in building a high performing world class IT practice and providing opportunities for team members to grow and prosper in providing great services and support services.
- Develop and update online support documentation and troubleshoot systems and applications issues including L3 and above protocols.
- Bring a quality first and innovative mindset with eagerness to learn, grow and develop
- Present on various subjects with confidence and persuasion to technical and business stakeholders.
- Be a true team player who can seamlessly transition between being a strategic advisor and being hands-on with delivering technical solutions.
- Work onsite at our office as needed, to collaborate on initiatives. We otherwise work flexibly.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Layer 2 & 3 technologies
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise network security solutions
- 3+ years experience with Palo Alto Networks security technologies

Demonstrated experience and knowledge with:
- Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and Prisma Access for secure cloud and network connectivity.
- Cisco IOS, Switching & Routing
- Designing, implementing, and managing Global Protect VPN solutions to secure remote access for enterprise environments
- Firewall policies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and secure web gateways (SWG).
- Network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SSL/TLS) and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, packet analyzers).
- Security compliance frameworks and regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, PCI-DSS) and how to implement network security controls to meet these standards.
- Ability to work from the office as needed and travel to various global offices for various projects as needed
- English proficiency, both written and oral
Preferred Qualifications
- Palo Alto Networks certifications, such as PCNSA or PCNSE
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java Script, Ruby, Bash, Salt, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or similar)
- Familiarity with cloud security controls, such as Prisma Cloud and CASB solutions, and integration with platforms like Office 365, Google Workspace, or AWS.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning-based threat detection and its integration into Palo Alto Networks' security ecosystem
- Experience managing security for remote workforces, leveraging Global Protect VPN and Prisma Access to secure access to company resources from anywhere.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and vulnerability analyses as part of network security strategies
- Experience in an end-to-end project and support related role for an entire enterprise ecosystem
- Experience in a hands-on technical role working on architecture & deployment roles in corporate backend systems: Windows Server and/or Linux, SSO (SAML), PKI, Compute, Storage , Virtualization, Virtual desktops, MDM, etc.
- Experience managing within an ITIL based service delivery model
- Adaptable and able to reprioritize time and resources to meet constantly changing business needs and priorities
