Traveling PLC Conveyor Technician

INNOVEYANCE. Two brand leaders, C&M Conveyor + Ohio Blow Pipe have come together to deliver the most dependable, comprehensive customer-engineered solutions in material and scrap handling. C&M Conveyor manufactures and installs custom-built conveyor solutions that facilitate the flow of materials safely, reliably, and efficiently. Ohio Blow Pipe manufactures and installs customized, high-efficiency scrap/trim removal and air filtration systems that improve safety and operational efficiency better than any other. C&M Conveyor is located in Mitchell, IN and Ohio Blow Pipe is located in Cleveland, Ohio.
JOB SUMMARY
The Conveyor PLC Technician provides assembly and installation labor for material handling & pneumatic systems that improve productivity in manufacturing plants around the globe. The Conveyor PLC Technician designs, maintains and troubleshoots machines and plants that use programmable logic controllers. The PLC Technician must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the process. The PLC technician must be able to meet project timelines and travel to maintain and upgrade software and hardware for customers in facilities. You'll be working closely with the sales team, customers, and vendors to help Innoveyance win business and solve customer problems. This is a full-time position based out of the Mitchell, IN location. You may need to report to Mitchell, IN for training and orientation. The selected candidate will work remotely with extensive travel to customer locations including travel by air.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reads and adheres to timelines to plan daily activities.
  • Assembles conveyor components using mechanical blueprints, operator instruction worksheets, and/or verbal orders.
  • Leads and/or works with team members and customer contacts in the process of installing equipment.
  • Performs PLC programming including set-up, service, troubleshooting, and field modifications.
  • Assures that quality standards are met. Tests automated systems for efficiency, safety, reliability, and proper function.
  • Assign required hardware IP addresses and utilize Rockwell’s software to network all PLC communication.
  • Properly wears personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, boots with a safety toe, and hearing protection.
  • Possesses personal hand tools and toolboxes to complete the required work.
  • Performs work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participates in all required training.
  • Accurately completes required documentation including daily reports.
  • Demonstrates conveyor equipment to customer and provides training to the customer.
  • Due to frequent contact with customers, the person in this position must maintain a professional appearance, good hygiene, and be courteous and respectful to all customer personnel and contractors.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license.
  • Possesses a valid US Passport or is willing to obtain one.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Proficiency in RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, Studio5000, and/or Factory Talk View.
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and write ladder logic & diagrams including tracing through drawings, wiring numbers, and cross-referencing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with material handling systems design.
  • 2-year degree in PLC programming and/or 3 years of experience as a PLC programmer.
  • Knowledge of HMI and interface
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States for extended periods of time. Travel to Canada, Mexico, and other international locations may be required less frequently.
  • During the workday, this position may be expected to do the following on a frequent basis: walking, sitting, squatting. kneeling, using hands and fingers, using vibratory tools, reaching above the shoulders, balancing, talking, and hearing. The position may be physically demanding at times.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 86 per week
