STARBASE Holloman: STARBASE Holloman is a Department of Defense educational outreach program managed locally by the International Space Hall of Fame Foundation (ISHFF). It is designed to increase the knowledge, interest and skills of underrepresented youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through an inquiry-based curriculum with “hands-on, minds-on” experiential activities. STARBASE Holloman is an immersive five-day, 25-hour STEM program for fifth graders, with innovative and engaging learning activities. Description: The program instructors implement and instructs all STARBASE lessons, performing in a manner that inspires students and creates memorable, positive learning experiences. This position coordinates closely with a teaching assistant and reports directly to the Director. Work also involves the analysis of instructional needs and development of lesson plans in alignment with Do D STARBASE curriculum standards. NOTE: This is an Employee-At-Will position and is contingent upon continued Department of Defense funding of the STARBASE Holloman Program. Qualifications: The Program Instructor is required to have a variety of education, skills, aptitude, knowledge, and experiences:
A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM field or education
At least 3 years of experience in elementary education is preferred
Experience in creating, developing, and implementing curriculum for K-12 students
Experience & knowledge using computers and Microsoft Office Programs is a must
Ability to create an effective learning and working environment
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional approach
Possess classroom management skills that are flexible and foster a rich learning environment, which is inspiring for students.
Ability for quality communication and effective relationships with military commanders and personnel, school administrators, community leaders, teachers, students, parents and volunteers
Current certification in CPR or possess the ability to successfully obtain certification
Satisfactory results of local, state, federal and Holloman Military Base background checks.
