Residential Sales Representative

Position Overview
The Residential Sales Representative plays a crucial role in expanding the Company’s residential customer base and delivering solutions involves the generation of new opportunities, cross-sales initiatives, and repeat sales by developing and executing effective sales strategies. This includes identifying potential residential customers, managing existing customer relationships, and actively participating in the implementation of targeted sales approaches. The role requires proficiency in internet and telecom services to showcase the value and functionality of the Company's offerings. Success in this position contributes directly to the overall growth and success of the business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales- 50%
  • Conduct door-to-door sales in residential areas to acquire new customers for internet and telecommunication services, and non-traditional products and services.
  • Initiate outbound calls to potential new and existing customers.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding established residential sales goals.
  • Requires travel within the service area to engage potential customers.
  • Utilize tools and resources to identify residential locations that are not customers.
  • Responsible for establishing new relationships and enhancing existing relationships with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction with all services purchased from the Company.
  • Keep customers informed of upgrade offerings, marketing promotions, and changes to their telecommunication services.
  • Introduce new and available technologies and applications that support customer’s current and future communication needs.
  • Know and understand Company products, services, and systems. Responsible for staying current on updates to products and services, as well as changes and developments in the telecommunications industry.
Customer Service- 50%
  • Assist with providing customers with technical or complex support regarding their product and service questions. Provide customers with training on product features.
  • Acts as a resource for other customer service representatives.
  • Required to work in other office locations apart from the hired primary “home” office to provide staffing coverage.
  • Resolve complex product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment, and providing follow up to ensure resolution. Escalates the problem to the Customer Experience Supervisor as needed.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships using a warm tone with customers through various methods; email, chat, phone, Smart Hub, and in-person.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and directs calls to the appropriate party. Initiates follow up calls to customers to ensure expectations have been met.
  • Initiate, follow, and close service orders to provide customers with services in a timely manner. Ensures information is accurate and complete. Work closely with personnel from other departments to accomplish completion of service orders.
  • Handle more complex billing questions, accurately processes payments and posts to the customer’s account. Trains customers on the IVR system to pay their bill.
  • Responsible for accurately using various systems and programs to perform customer service duties such as NISC, COMM100, and Docu Sign.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in the performance management process, including goal setting and identifying opportunities to learn, develop and/or improve skills.
  • Proactively follows through on meeting performance objectives and expectations. Collaborates with others to achieve shared objectives.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude in daily interactions. Encourages positive relationships among the staff and promotes good morale in the workplace.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customer information.
  • Embraces collaboration with team members to achieve shared objectives.
  • Operates a Company vehicle to visit customers.
  • Attends trainings, meetings and Company events as requested.
  • Occasional weekends may be required to meet customers' needs and for community events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Requires sufficient demonstrated experience which includes understanding and knowledge of sales, marketing, and customer service principles.
  • Demonstrated sales ability including the ability to cold call on new prospects and existing customers to proactively sell new services. Must be able to gather data, develop a proposal and close the sale.
  • Requires computer skills using MS Office 365.
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work from oral and written instructions and make decisions independently and take responsibility for them. Requires strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Requires the ability to maintain good working relations with other departments and outside agencies.
  • Must have time management and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and attention to detail and possess the ability to analyze information and make recommendations.
  • Requires travel, a valid Oregon driver’s license, and the ability to maintain a valid license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or knowledge of the telecom industry.
  • Previous outside sales experience.
  • Knowledge of broadband products and services and a demonstrated ability to assess customer needs and make product recommendations.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, such as Salesforce, Calix, Microsoft 365 Monday.com
  • Working knowledge of NISC software and project management software.
