Responsibilities: As a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with Truecare24, you will work under the clinical direction of the Chief Psychologist, or designee, and serve as a member of a Treatment Team for patients diagnosed with mental disorders. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Conducting risk assessments for violence/suicide
Competency assessments
Admission psychological assessments
Administering cognitive and diagnostic tests
Developing treatment and behavioral plans
Facilitating psychotherapy groups
Leading treatment team conferences
Training clinical and level of care staff
Individual therapy
Unit Psychologist Duties: As a Unit Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, you will:
Take primary responsibility in developing new treatment plans, as well as refining and updating existing plans.
Lead multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences for assigned caseload, participate in change of shift and risk management meetings.
Develop treatment objectives and interventions tailored to patient’s dynamic risk factors and strengths.
Complete required psychological assessments and evaluations on patients assigned to their caseload.
Conduct structural and functional assessments and develop positive behavioral interventions for patients with maladaptive behaviors.
Conduct focused psychological assessments such as diagnostic clarification.
Make referrals for treatment needs, progress assessments, and neuropsychological evaluations.
Provide clinical case consultation to staff as needed and/or requested, including in-service training in areas of professional expertise, provide post-incident debriefing and crisis intervention.
Participate in forensic Conditional Release Program (CONREP) evaluations and community-based treatment meetings.
Facilitate and process psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups and provide individual psychotherapy.
Maintain an on-going understanding of court protocol, provide court testimony as an expert witness, and convey the opinion of the interdisciplinary team.
Provide other duties that support the growth and operational need of the Department of State Hospitals
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure.
Minimum one (1) year post-license experience.
Doctoral degree in psychology from an American Psychological Association accredited school or commensurate training and experience.
Ability to be reimbursed for services by Medicare.
Knowledge or ability to learn about the forensic aspect of commitment types, including but not limited to Sexually Violent Predators (SVP), Lanterman-Petris-Short Act (LPS), Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGI), Incompetent to Stand Trial (1370), Offenders with Mental Health Disorders (OMD) and Mentally Ill Inmates and their Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).
Experience or ability to learn about risk assessments.
Strong assessment and psychological testing skills, especially violence risk assessments.
Experience in facilitating psycho-educational and process groups.
Experience in providing individual psychotherapy.
Experience with practical treatment and management of personality disorders, especially those with antisocial personality disorder and serious and persistent mental illness.
Must be proficient in the English language; be able to speak fluently, understand oral and written communications, and write effectively.
Preferred Experience:
One year work experience with serious mental illness in a team treatment forensic secure environment facility.
One year work experience writing and conducting psychological evaluations.
One year work experience with court testimony regarding forensic report writing.
One year work experience with forensic consultation with treatment providers regarding patient progress.
