Part Time Dog Trainer

About Us: Based in Portland, Oregon, Urban Pawsibilities is a dog training facility where we aim to foster a collaborative relationship with our clients. We understand the weight of the work we do, getting personal in people’s lives through their pets. Through this work, our goal is to ensure that needs are met, expectations are clear, and behavior is reliable. We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our team as a part-time Dog Trainer.
Position Overview: As a Dog Trainer at Urban Pawsibilities, you will play a vital role in helping dogs and their owners build strong relationships through training. This position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work in a supportive and fun environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Assess Dog Behavior: Evaluate each dog’s temperament and needs to tailor training approaches and ensure a positive experience for both the dog and owner.
Provide Client Support: Offer guidance and advice to dog owners on training techniques, behavioral issues, and overall pet care to enhance their training journey.
Lead Play Groups: Lead and facilitate play groups between dogs.
Follow Training Plans: Follow training plans for dogs based on their specific needs and goals, ensuring progress is tracked and communicated effectively to owners.
Maintain Training Areas: Ensure training facilities and equipment are clean, safe, and well-maintained for all training activities.
Stay Updated on Best Practices: Continuously educate yourself on the latest training techniques and animal behavior to provide the highest quality of training.

Qualifications:

Experience in dog training or a related field, with a strong understanding of positive reinforcement techniques.
Basic understanding of dog body language and handling skills.
Certification from a recognized dog training organization is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and a passion for educating dog owners.
Ability to work with a variety of dog breeds and temperaments.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
