Anticipated Paraprofessionals (3 positions) Position Title: Paraprofessional

Report to: Building Principal
Status: Non-exempt contracted
Required Education & Experience:
High School Diploma
Earned Associate’s Degree or a minimum of 48 college credits,
Or completion and passing score on the Pennsylvania Special Education Paraeducator Credential of Competency offered through the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (Pa TTAN)
Experience working with children ages birth through grade 12
Qualifications:
A person who is willing to work cooperatively with the special Education teacher, general education teachers, administrators and all other related school personnel.
A person who exhibits genuine empathy for children with special needs and is interested in supporting them in the educational setting.
Purpose: This position requires that the person cares about and enjoys being with children and has a desire to assist teachers in helping students be successful in school. The person must be able to take directions, demonstrate initiative in organizing people and tasks, and possess a positive self-concept. Job Duties:
Implement teaching strategies with students when directed by classroom teacher, special education teacher, or supervisor;
Assist teachers with classroom instruction;
Supervise students during classroom activities;
Supervise students at lunch and on playgrounds as assigned;
Assist teachers with some clerical work;
Assist teachers in developing instructional materials;
Maintain positive relationships with school staff, students, and parents;
Present a positive image of the school to the public;
Observe and enforce all policies, rules, and regulations of the school district;
Notify supervisor immediately of any emergency affecting the safety or welfare of students or staff;
Respect the dignity of each student as an individual and attempt to gain an adequate understanding of his/her needs, interests, abilities, aptitudes, temperament, and environmental influences as a basis on which to meet his/her needs;
Treat students with fairness and courtesy when working with the student and the parents/guardians;
Keep records and information concerning individual students confidential and use information only for the purposes for which it was accumulated; do not discuss with anyone or make a record available to anyone without authorization by supervisor;
Maintain a high standard of conduct and good rapport with students and staff;
Collaborate with the special education teacher concerning unmanageable problems and make suggestions as to solving of the problems;
Attend all meetings for which notice is provided by supervisor;
Provide supervisor with information that will serve the best interest of the children and be discreet with information received from parents;
Assist with transfers of students to/from various types of equipment for therapy, mobility and toileting needs.
Assist students with toileting needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
