St John’s Lutheran Church Altamont Church Office Administrative Assistant HOURS: 20 hours per week; 9:00 A.M. TO 2:00 P.M. TUESDAY - FRIDAY SALARY: $16.00 PER HOUR, paid the 1st and 15th of each month POSITION SUMMARY: The office administrator is responsible for the effective operation of the church office, including clerical activities and facility operations. The office administrator helps coordinate church activities, use of facilities and communications with Pastor, Council, Committee Chairs and congregants. QUALIFICATIONS:

DUTIES:
Answer telephone and take messages.
Maintain and monitor church voicemail and outgoing messages.
Act as the first contact/liaison with calls into the church.
Handle any telephone and mail requests as appropriate including those through the website. Direct all other calls or mail to the appropriate person to assure questions and requests are answered.
Keep a calendar of appointments, building use, church activities, including periodic building inspections.
Type any necessary correspondence and take care of mailing.
Manage social media, including Website, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Other duties as assigned within the general scope of the position.
WEEKLY DUTIES:
Coordinate handling of the deposit slips, banking records and donation acknowledgements with Treasurer.
Facilitate processing of collections in the safe and donations received between services.
Review announcements for bulletins and communicate any clarifications or changes with party submitting such announcements.
Prepare, type, and assemble Sunday bulletins and any special bulletins (i.e. Lent, Easter, Christmas, weddings and funerals) as well as placing bulletins in sanctuary appropriately including leaving a copy on lectern for readers and recycling past bulletins.
Oversee the coordination of volunteers for worship.
Assist Pastor with the weekly electronic communication re: worship service, church initiatives and upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.
MONTHLY DUTIES:
Solicit timely newsletter items from council, committees, president and pastor.
Create monthly newsletters to be released following the monthly council meeting.
Electronically distribute proofed and approved monthly newsletter. Distribute paper copies of the newsletter for members requesting them.
Have sufficient copies of council handouts (agenda, treasurer report, pastor report and any committee report for all attendees at time of the meeting.
Maintain up-to-date membership, stewardship, birthday and newsletter email lists
Order all supplies at the request of staff or committee representatives.
ANNUAL DUTIES:
Type agenda for the Annual Meeting and have sufficient copies for all attendees
Type all reports in the form of a booklet and make enough copies for distribution to all members of the congregation 2 weeks prior to the Annual Meeting
