Description Providence is calling for a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Kodiak, Alaska. The Medical Technologist conducts clinical diagnostic testing on inpatients, outpatients, and residents to included blood draws and specimen collections for processing. Performs therapeutic phlebotomy. Conducts quality control procedures on patient tests and laboratory equipment to ensure that accurate diagnostic testing is performed. Reports patient data to the patient's medical record and/or medical staff if the results warrant direct contact. Providence caregivers are not simply valued – they’re invaluable. Completion of education equivalent to national certification as Medical Technologist (MT) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from ASCP.
National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology within 1 year of hire. Or
National Clinical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology within 1 year of hire. Or
National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists within 1 year of hire. Or
National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology within 1 year of hire. Or
National Medical Technologist - American Association of Bioanalysts within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of work experience in a clinical laboratory.
