Learning and Development Manager

Position Overview

The Manager, Learning and Development (L&D) is responsible for planning and implementing a year-long professional development strategy to prepare Ameri Corps members to deliver high-quality and high-impact service to students in schools while increasing their leadership capacity and skills. The L&D Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring corps members are prepared with the proper training and learning opportunities throughout their service year. Duties include: Collaborate with Staff to plan and execute site-wide programming and onboarding for ACMs throughout the year, develop and adapt training sessions by aligning and updating HQ material with local needs including site cultural needs and school districts’ requirements, support the creation and delivery of new resources, and diversify training resources and materials by collaborating with other service providers and local trainers. The L&D Manager will work closely with the Learning and Development Director, Impact Coaches, and the Whole School Whole Child team to ensure corps members are delivering the highest quality service and that learning and development experiences are well planned and meet the needs of corps member learning and development.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Ameri Corps Learning and Development Process and Logistics:

Collaborate with the WSWC team to plan and execute site-wide Learning and Development programming
Facilitate and execute site-wide Summer Learning Institute (SLI) and ongoing Learning & Development training days for Ameri Corps Members including all logistics
Create and disseminate site communication regarding Learning and Development programming
Plan and share with the site all training schedules for the year
Manage the site L&D calendar

Coordinate the logistics of Basic Training Retreat at the close of Summer Learning Institute
Plan and execute Mid Year Onboarding and Mid Year Summit
Develop and execute an evaluation system for monitoring the effectiveness of Learning and Development programming
Coordinate, track and report ACM attendance for all compliance training sessions (ie. CPR, HQ sessions); follow-up to ensure all Ameri Corps members are within compliance
Develop a process for collecting and organizing training resources on all training platforms including Share Point (cyconnect), REACH 360, Teams, and Stream
Monitor and update calendar invites for L&D sessions
Maintain the food pantry and stay within budget by ordering and stocking food, snacks, and drinks prior to every Learning & Development Day
Develop and implement a system for community meetings during SLI and Learning & Development days

Team Leadership

Structure and systematize staff involvement in facilitating and participating in the learning environment for corps member development
Coordinate logistics for facilitator sign-ups
Keep track of updates needed to content, assign out who will be editing and updating trainings

Work with facilitators beforehand to ensure they feel prepared and confident to facilitate
Observe training sessions to provide feedback to facilitators in order to improve the quality of the Learning and Development progam
Work with staff to ensure they are updated on training schedules, processes, logistics, and content
Coordinate with cross-departmental partners to connect external facilitators, venues, partners, etc. to L&D offerings including Community Asset Mapping, Community Engagement Days, and Service Opportunities

Participate in Organizational Initiatives:

Attend and support whole site events like Opening Day, MLK Day, Leadership Luncheon, Graduation, and other site-wide designated events
Participate in relevant network-wide meetings and calls providing insight, feedback, and collective problem solving

Other duties as assigned:

The Learning and Development Manager will assume other tasks as delegated by his/her supervisor

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, knowledge of educational systems, preferably with Tulsa Education System and Youth Development
2+ years of experience in training staff or young adults in the education, non-profit or corporate sector
Ability to build interpersonal relationships, motivate corps/staff, and facilitate large groups

Willingness to take on new challenges, pursue self-development and self-directed learning
Ability to listen and pay close attention to detail, problem solving, time and project management skills
Ability to prioritize projects and tasks, assess and deploy culturally competent resources
Demonstrated an ability to work with a diverse team of early-workforce members which includes coaching, providing constructive feedback and applying differentiated instruction and resources to meet the needs of all members

Comfortable navigating tech programs and willingness to learn more
