Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including visitations, ceremonies, burials, and embalming
- Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance and support during the grieving process
- Arrange transportation of the deceased to the funeral home or other designated location
- Prepare the body for viewing, including embalming, dressing, and cosmetology
- Assist families in selecting caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise
- Coordinate with clergy, cemetery personnel, and other service providers to ensure a smooth and respectful funeral service
- Handle administrative tasks such as preparing death certificates, obituaries, and other necessary documentation
- Provide bereavement support to grieving families
- Be On Call
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Maintain cleanliness of preparation room, equipment and work areas
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Funeral Director
- Knowledge of funeral directing practices and procedures
- Familiarity with anatomy and physiology for embalming purposes
- Ability to handle heavy lifting and physical demands associated with the job
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide compassionate support to grieving families
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in IVRS, SRS, Outlook, Funeral One
- Valid Illinois Funeral Director Embalmer License
- Valid Illinois Driver's License
