Revenue Cycle Specialists are responsible for daily follow up which includes reviewing outstanding balance and contacting insurance companies to resolve. The responsibilities of this position would include all duties of a healthcare Collection Representative.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contact insurance carriers to inquire about unpaid/pending claims.
Maintains A/R at acceptable aging levels by prompt follow-up to insurance companies of unpaid claims and denied claims.
Escalating payment posting discrepancies
Process paper correspondence as assigned.
Review claim progress by using every available avenue, such as online tools, automated systems, and payor representatives.
Analyze Explanation of Benefits for zero pay and/or denied charges to resolution.
Prepare appeals to the payor specifications, i.e. dispute forms and/or any documentation for dispute.
Analyze outstanding balances for assigned payors. Ensures that every account has been worked through resolution.
Communicate all payer issues, denial patterns, or other payment delays to the RCM Leadership team.
All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
2-5 years of previous Medical Insurance collection
Knowledgeable of Health Insurance denials
Must be self-sufficient with creating all of levels of disputes(Reconsideration/Appeals)
