We are looking for an Engineering Consultant. The Engineering Consultant will collaborate with the model coordination team to collect and analyze transmission model updates from member transmission organizations, as well as neighboring entities within the Energy Management System (EMS) footprint. Utilizing engineering expertise, the consultant will assess which updates are suitable for the model and communicate these findings to the model managers. Working closely with the model management team, they will implement these updates within the EMS. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate model updates in response to new transmission and generation improvements related to Regional Transmission Enhancement (RTEP) projects and input from members, operations, planning, and market teams.
Establish positive relationships with a diverse range of individuals within and outside the organization; effectively manage high-pressure situations with diplomacy.
Ensure the accuracy of model data in the EMS.
Collaborate with adjacent regional entities and RTOs to support external model updates and Market to Market coordination.
Connect transmission tickets for energizing new facilities with corresponding model update requests.
Develop and maintain departmental documentation on processes and procedures to ensure alignment with Operating Agreements, manuals, and applicable NERC and FERC standards.
Commit to understanding and meeting the needs of both internal and external customers; leverage customer feedback to enhance products and services.
Update parameters within the transmission model, including congestion priorities and GIS coordinates.
Employ a logical and methodical approach to identify and solve complex issues; conduct thorough analysis to uncover hidden problems and develop effective solutions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent experience.
Openness to training in transmission modeling support.
Demonstrate proficiency in prioritizing tasks efficiently and managing time effectively to maximize productivity.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong oral and written communication skills for effective customer engagement.
High-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
Consistently exceed performance goals and demonstrate a strong focus on achieving outcomes
Preferred:
Understanding of power system equivalencing or model reduction techniques.
Experience with Siemens Spectrum Energy Management Systems.
Understanding of Power System Common Information Model (CIM, IEC standards).
Knowledge of real-time Energy Management System databases and display generation software.
Familiarity with power system components and associated database models.
Experience with transmission network analysis functions such as State Estimation, Security Analysis, and P-V curve analysis.
Proficient in SQL/ORACLE.
