Qualified applicants must possess a High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 7-11 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized education and training provided upon hire.
Minimum requirements include: Must be a U.S. citizen; at least 18 years of age; must obtain and maintain a valid Arkansas driver's license and have a good driving record at the time of employment and during tenure of employment; must have a high school diploma or GED; must not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor crimes of a violent nature or involving moral turpitude; been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence; been placed on diversion; nor have an expunged conviction.
Starting Salary $35;202

Job Description
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Be a citizen of the United States
2.Be at least 18 years of age
3. Required to pass a background investigation the same as a sworn law enforcement officer.
4.Be free of a felony record
5. Be of good character as determined through a background investigation
6.Be a high school graduate or possess a GED
7.Pass a physical
8.Must be able to communicate in writing and orally in English. Bilingual is a plus.
9.Pass a psychological examination
10.Pass a drug examination
11.Possess a valid Arkansas driver's license
12.Successfully complete firearms training (if at least 21 years of age)
13.Attend and complete 110 hour certification training within the first 12 months of employment.
14.Successfully complete any other requirements as set out by CLEST standards or City of Springdale requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team); and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
Building Security Duties
1.Ensure safety and security of persons by observing City facilities and responding to active threats; criminal activity and hazards.
2.Operate specialized security screening equipment to screen persons and property before entering secure City facilities.
3. Provide first line security for the City of Springdale Administration building.
4.Provide assistance to employees and the public including directing to specific City departments; court; etc.
5.Attend and successfully complete specialized officer training.
6.Attend and successfully complete training on approved weapon systems.
7.Serve arrest warrants and complete required paperwork.
8.Take citizen fingerprints during allotted times.
9.Provide information to citizens that call or come to the station seeking assistance.
10.Attend and successfully complete required court security officer training.
11.Perform Court Bailiff duties and community service responsibilities as needed.
12.Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Jailer Duties
13.Maintain interior security of the jail facility.
14.Book all detainees brought into the facility and manage detainee activities (e.g. – phone use; medication; visitation; etc.)
15.Manage detainees from book-in to release and complete all required paperwork and administrative tasks.
16.Maintain order in the jail facility by managing detainees to include managing combative detainees by physical and less-lethal weapon intervention when required.
17.Assist officers in dealing with detainees; including uncooperative or combative detainees.
18.Perform bond procedures; including completing required forms; receiving and receipting bond money and coordinating release.
19.Take detainee fingerprints and mugshots.
20.Per Police Department Policy; perform daily sick calls and have detainees complaining of illness or injury checked by medical personnel.
21.Notify the on-duty supervisor of all detainee complaints; issues with detainees; equipment; or any emergency that involves the facility or detainees.
22.Ensure that all detainees are segregated per state and federal regulations.
23.Attend and successfully complete jail standards and any other required training; including defensive tactics and assigned less-lethal weapons systems.
24. Transport detainees as required.
25.Check detainees for 9.3 orders; citations to appear; court dates; warrants; etc. prior to release.
26. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

CERTIFICATES; LICENSES; REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver’s License and be able to obtain required certifications; ACIC Level I/CJIS certification; Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and have the ability to comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards and obtain necessary certifications.

Regular contacts with citizens; other law enforcement agencies and outside representatives.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Regular contacts within the department and with other departments as needed.
USE OF MACHINES; EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer; standard office equipment and standard jail equipment. Be proficient in or ability to become proficient in the use of specialized security equipment.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff. Must be able to withstand a complete background investigation; polygraph examination and credit history report and in addition; must complete a physical and mental evaluation as part of the pre-employment requirements.
