Job Summary: Act as a classroom monitor, assisting in classroom management and providing intensive behavior support include counseling and therapeutic intervention in the classrooms. Essential Functions of the Position:
Provide behavioral interventions in an alternative education setting and provide crisis intervention as needed.
Provide necessary support to alternative education students in a classroom setting.
Liaison between Bethesda Lutheran Services, outside school districts, and parents.
Provide supervision on field trips as needed.
Maintenance of assigned student’s files.
Record relevant information such as educational and therapeutic documentation.
Work in conjunction with other staff to form efficient, effective and cohesive team.
Provide counseling and therapeutic interventions as needed.
Plan and implement therapeutic groups at the direction of the Alternative Education Therapist.
Supervise client self-administration of medication if needed.
Act as a positive role model for students by maintaining a professional demeanor and ethical behavior at all times.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multitask while maintaining a positive demeanor during periods of increased demands on time and attention from multiple residents.
Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written. This includes the ability to converse with residents and families of various socioeconomic backgrounds in a professional manner.
Ability to de-escalate an emotionally charged or potentially violent situation using the least restrictive method possible.
Knowledge of the education and CASSP systems and principles.
Required Education, Experience, and Clearances:
High school diploma required.
Experience working with youth in an education setting is preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
FBI, Child Abuse History, PA State Police, and Driver Clearances. Other clearances may be required dependent on residency status.
