Job Summary: The Associate Director of Orientation and Special Events oversees freshman and transfer comprehensive Bama Bound Orientation sessions. Manages recruitment orientation email campaigns, social media, event software applications and other forms of media for prospective students and their parents. Ensures that through training and daily updates that the Avanti team members are well versed with our academic programs and co-curricular opportunities in order to provide excellent customer service to prospective incoming students and their parents. Provides administrative support to the Coordinator of Orientation and Special Programs for the planning, implementation, and managing comprehensive high school on-campus recruitment events.
Additional Department Summary: This position assumes primary responsibility for freshman and transfer comprehensive Bama Bound Orientation sessions. This position manages recruitment orientation email campaigns, social media, event software applications and other forms of media for prospective students and their parents. Provides leadership to the Assistant Director for Orientation and Special Events by maintaining constant communications to achieve positive Orientation sessions and University Days. Ensures that through training and daily updates that the Avanti team members are well versed with our academic programs and co-curricular opportunities in order to provide excellent customer service to prospective incoming students and their parents.
Provides administrative support to the Coordinator of Orientation and Special Programs for the planning, implementation and managing comprehensive high school on-campus recruitment events which includes Sibling Orientation sessions, University Days, Game Days and other special on-campus recruitment events, i.e. Spanish Day, German Day, etc.
This position serves as senior member of staff for receptions and other events for Undergraduate Admissions.
This position reports directly to the Associate Provost and Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, or communications experience; OR master's degree and four (4) years of recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, or communications experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communications skills. An interest in working with prospective students and their families. The ability to work with different cultures and groups of people. Proven leadership ability and customer oriented philosophy. Ability to multi task effectively. High organization skills for strategic planning purposes.
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a complex higher education institution is preferred.
