We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant/Receptionist at Batchelor, Davidson and Watson Veterinary Surgeons.
Location: Edinburgh Contract: Permanent Hours: 35 hours per week Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday with a 1:4 share of the Saturday 08.30 – 14.30 rota

About the role: Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will be divided between Patient Care Assistant and Receptionist duties:
Nursing care to patients
Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
Answering phones and booking appointments
Responding to queries via phone, in person and email
Registering new clients
Completing insurance forms
Dispensing medications
Taking payments
And most importantly; providing a warm and welcoming experience to our clients arriving at the practice
What we're looking for in our new Patient Care Assistant/Receptionist: We are looking for someone with the confidence, empathy and experience to provide the high standards of care and the personal touch we expect for our patients and clients.
Previous Receptionist experience is desired, veterinary experience is a plus!
Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
An excellent communicator with strong empathy
Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management and operating systems
Strong organisational and administrative skills
