Based in West Lothian, Broadex Technologies focuses on the development, production and sales of high-end optical communication network components. The company is dedicated to supplying passive optical components such as Planar Light Circuit (PLC) silica waveguide chips, as well as active optical components such as transceivers, in high volume to the telecommunications market. Broadex’s core competencies are in the design, manufacturing, packaging and optical testing of a wide range of high technology devices for use in telecom and datacom networks. We are now recruiting for a Shift Leader. Working Early/Back/Night Shift you will support the Production Manager, by taking day to day responsibility in leading, coordinating and motivating a team of operators. and technicians ensuring that the group is working efficiently and in unity. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: · Guide, direct, co-ordinate and motivate Operators on shift to achieve production targets. · Complete daily/weekly production reports and supply to management. · Ensure production output sheets are up to date and make decisions based on WIP in line. · Identify training requirements, resource and implement changes as required. · Organise shift set up for production operators, ensure targets and equipment set up is clear and concise. · Ensure that all work carried out on shift is conducted in a safe manner and that relevant safety precautions are followed. · Ensure the operators are trained and aware of quality procedures and work instructions. · Management of the teams for HR/training related issues. · Lead 5s and continuous improvement teams. · Attend various Production/Planning meetings and present relevant data/information as required. The successful candidate must have previous man-management experience working within a manufacturing hi-volume environment. Formal qualifications are advantageous but not essential. This role requires an individual who is able to work under pressure but will remain approachable and confident in their decisions.
