The Opportunity As a result of our ongoing growth and establishment of new offices, we are looking for a Regional SHEQ Advisor to join our newly formed team in South Wales where they will hold regional responsibility for Compliance matters across a range of Renewable Energy projects such as Solar Farms, District Heating Schemes, Energy Centres and Biomass Plants. Due to a number of high-profile projects also being developed and operated by Vital Energi in London, this role will also involve site visits there approximately twice per week. The Role Reporting directly to the SHEQ Director you will be responsible for:
Supporting project teams to ensure organisational approach to SHEQ is implemented to a consistently high standard
Taking a risk-based approach when determining solutions and initiatives, and giving priority to high-risk and complex situations to ensure site-based personnel are following policies, procedures and regulations
Liaising with subcontracted delivery partners to ensure compliance with CDM 2015, applying the Principles of Prevention throughout the project in order to promote a safe working environment
Guiding project health and safety activities implemented by operational line managers used to help detect potential hazards early during planning stages
Carrying out and reviewing assessments to consider risk reduction strategies
Ensuring project teams are evaluating RAMS submitted by delivery partners
Carrying out monthly inspections of site conditions to ensure policies/procedures are being properly implemented, and determining if hazards present have been identified and addressed accordingly
Maintaining records of inspection findings and producing reports to suggest improvements
Ensuring a timely and effective response to SHEQ incidents, conducting internal investigations to gather evidence necessary to identify root cause and prevent re-occurrence
Ensuring all employees receive a site induction, weekly toolbox talks and relevant training to perform role/responsibilities
Coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste and other waste streams
Assisting in the delivery of audit programmes to ensure compliance with management systems under ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards
The Person
Minimum NEBOSH Certificate or similar level qualification such as a Degree in H&S, NVQ Level 6, City & Guilds Diploma etc
Membership of recognised professional body e.g Grad IOSH, CMIOSH (or working towards)
Experience in auditing for 9001/14001/45001 (Internal Auditor qualification/training advantageous)
Previous H&S experience in a M&E, Industrial, Energy or Utilities Construction environment
Forces Leavers/Ex-Forces with above qualifications also invited to apply
Full UK driving licence and comfortable with travel to sites (average 2-3 days per week in South Wales, 2 days in London by train, 1 day in office or home)
