Carbon Accounting Specialist

Carbon Accounting Specialist
Working in the Sustainability team within a global Energy Management Business. This role will be responsible for the day to day management and support of customers Carbon Accounting strategies with a particular focus on Scope 3. Working in a high profile and rapidly expending sector of the business, the role will require managing multiple workstreams and customer expectations. Knowledge of Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon accounting practice based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol will be essential to assist customers with their journey to Net Zero.
The role will also include supporting the promotion of the service to internal and external stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage carbon accounting strategies and models for customers globally including through our online carbon reporting platform
- Lead and assist on consultancy cases related to diverse carbon accounting issues, with a particular focus on Scope 3
- Support carbon accounting business development and innovation, support customer acquistion, including working with sales teams and developing scopes of work and proposals and drive new sales
- Support the development of the Teams Scope 3 client offerings and deliverables
- Provide subject matter expertise in Scope 3 Carbon Accounting and data management
- Deliver and provide technical leadership on Scope 3 and supply chain client projects
- Structure, build and develop Carbon Footprint Reports for clients
- Drive innovation in the wider Sustainability department using expertise on carbon accounting
- Lead the training and development of internal account and sales teams on Scope 3 carbon accounting solutions.
PERSON SPECIFICATION (BACKGROUND AND SKILLS):
- Solid understanding of carbon accounting methodology and guidelines based on the Green House Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate standard is a must; including in depth Scope 3 and Supply Chain knowledge and LCA’s.
- Familiarity with other international reporting frameworks such as CDP, GRI, SBTI etc is an advantage.
- Experience in sales and a customer facing background
- Solid numeracy skills, confidence in working with large data sets and advanced Excel skills
- Some applied project experience with technology and reporting platforms
- Excellent English skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a demonstrable background in client-facing roles
- Excellent client management and project management skills
- Enjoy speaking with customers, strong social skills
