We are seeking a Technical Writer with a preference for experience in the Oil and Gas or technology industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining instruction manuals and software help documentation for Customers’ technology products and assisting with documentation projects for other business units as required. This individual will work with subject matter experts and the Technical Documentation Manager to estimate and deliver high-quality instructional documents for internal and external users.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Journalism, or related field;
• 2+ years experience in technical communication;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills (preferably, experience in interviewing SMEs);
• Experience with project collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Share Point, or similar platforms;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio);
• Experience with Adobe In Design, Adobe Frame Maker, and Adobe Acrobat desired;
• Experience with Mad Cap Flare;
• Embraces opportunities to learn new technology;
• English – upper-intermediate.

Responsibilities:

• Work with project managers and the Technical Documentation Manager to identify documentation project’s scope, delivery requirements, and SME assignments;
• Provide regular updates to the Technical Documentation Manager on project status;
• Balance work on multiple projects simultaneously to meet delivery requirements, in accordance with priorities established by the business;
• Understand new technology and produce clear, concise documents that are tailored to the technical needs of the intended audience;
• Develop and maintain user manuals and related instructional content for hardware and software products;
• Develop and maintain software help documentation, exporting to PDF and XHTML (Mad Cap Flare);
• Prepare documents in approved templates, adhering to company style guide and branding guidelines;
• Facilitate regular meetings and reviews to verify understanding of content, identify actions needed, review prior actions, and monitor on-time delivery status;
• Maintain clear communication channels with team members, stakeholders, and SMEs to help ensure awareness of project requirements and documentation project status, and timely reviews and approvals;
• Meet regularly with the Technical Documentation Manager to review project status and job-related needs and collaboratively manage project issues;
• Assist in the maintenance and improvement of document templates and documentation management processes.
