The impact you'll make
- As an Engineering Manager II, you are accountable for the outcomes achieved of the team you manage, the growth of the team members, engineering processes used in the teams, as well as the team health.
- Your most important tool for delivering results is empowering team members to take ownership and coaching them to success and getting a little bit better every day.
- Beyond helping your team to be successful you show leadership by identifying opportunities and taking ownership of initiatives outside of your team's scope; both to have impact and as growth opportunities for yourself.
- You will be a member of the Engineering Leadership team, reporting to and managed by an experienced leader.
What you'll need
- We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with a history in leading or tech-leading a team (5 to 10 engineers) and a good understanding of modern incremental and iterative software product development.
- You have an acceptable understanding of both the business and product. This will help you to assess the impact of what the team delivers and take ownership for shaping the direction of the team and its systems in line with business objectives and strategy.
- You are empathetic, a goal-oriented communicator, a role model for applying engineering principles, and enjoy helping others to be successful just as much as having individual impact.
- You have strong technical skills from your history as a software engineer and you can fill any temporary gap as a Tech Lead in the team if required. You mainly use these skills to identify, evaluate, and grow talent, signal patterns in software quality issues and ensure the team is moving in the right direction.
- You understand how to balance deadlines, incremental product growth, resolving issues and addressing technical debt in a demanding automotive market.
What's in it for you
- To be part of a market leading company that changed the world of navigation.
- The opportunity to manage a small and strong engineering team where you'll enjoy being a respected leader in our Engineering Team, bringing your engineering experience to your peers.
- A great opportunity to grow into stronger engineering management roles with a wider scope and bigger impact.
- Your product will appear in millions of cars worldwide, across most well-known brands.
- Being exposed to a team with a long history in the automotive industry, you will learn how to operate best to deliver to the mission and strengthen your skills.
- Your ideas for improvement will be embraced and embedded in the roadmap in cooperation with our excellent UX and Product staff.
- As an empowered team, you can make your local decisions in a growing degree of freedom.
